Kick-off event

Kick-off event on April 2, 2022

The last three Corona years have been a challenge for many associations. Not only in soccer stadiums, but also in cultural preservation clubs everywhere, one hears only this one question: have we been forgotten? Will members remain loyal to us?

A centrally important concern of the Society is to network the James Loeb Society in Murnau even further, and, in a leading role, to bring new initiatives for and in Murnau to life. The basis for all this was created by Dr. Hermann Mayer; now it is time to set off with new momentum.

We, the board of the James Loeb Society, have given a lot of thought to the continuation of the existing projects in recent months. We have also set ourselves goals. In the summer of 2023, our next conference with Harvard University is scheduled to begin again. By then, we want to have many of the new projects underway, also with the goal of recruiting new members. So 2023 will be a new high point for the Society. In addition to the existing projects, it is a concern of the Society to act as a link between the James Loeb Classical Library at Harvard University and the Harvard Club of Munich. A closer collaboration, bringing together members of both societies, is envisioned here. We have already given some concrete thought to this. So we are pleased to inform you about the results achieved so far, especially the new cooperation with the Hochried Hospital and the Murnau Castle Museum.

The kick-off event took place in Munich. The heart of the company beats in Murnau. In Munich, we presented an event space near the train station (Königsplatz) where we could hold lecture series and musical events. We believe we can say that James Loeb would like it. The majority of events will continue to take place in the Blaue Land.

Last, but not least, through our joyous kick-off event, we want to give you some spring fever right now. We live in turbulent times. More than ever, we need the magnanimity and philanthropy of a James Loeb.
