Announcement of two James Loeb Fellowships for the Classical Tradition in Art and Architecture at the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte, Munich.

The Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte in Munich awards two James Loeb Fellowships for the Classical Tradition in Art and Architecture each year. These are sponsored by the James Loeb Gesellschaft e. V. and the Harcard Club München e. V..

The thematic focus of the fellowship combines central interests of the art collector Loeb, a graduate of Harvard University, who initiated English-language translations of the Greek and Latin literature of classical antiquity and bequeathed his large collection of antiquities to the Antikensammlung in Munich.

The fellowship is for doctoral students working on a research project on the traditions and transmission of antiquity in the visual arts and architecture since the early Middle Ages. Presence on site, a presentation of the topic, and collaboration in the activities of the Central Institute for Art History and Institute for Art History of the LMU are expected.

The fellowship has a duration of three months.
